He is also a record six-time NBA Most Valuable Player, a record 19-time NBA All-Star, a 15-time All-NBA selection, and an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team member. Wow, I don't know how you can even remember all that. Since retiring from the NBA, Abdul-Jabbar has been active as an education advocate, writer of social commentary, and author of novels and history books. He has written 15 books, including his most recent New York Times bestsellers "Coach Wooden and Me: Our 50-Year Friendship On and Off the Court" and "Becoming Kareem: Growing Up On and Off the Court". He also produced a documentary adaptation of "On the Shoulders of Giants", which won an NAACP award.
